La construction de l&rsquo;image se fait par absorption de rayons X. La mammographie utilise des rayons X et aucune l\u00e9sion radio-induite n&rsquo;a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9montr\u00e9e depuis que cette technique existe, la dose de radiations \u00e9tant g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement tr\u00e8s faible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La mammographie conventionnelle (ou analogique, ou \u00ab classique \u00bb) produit une image imprim\u00e9e sur un film argentique (un clich\u00e9). La mammographie num\u00e9rique construit l&rsquo;image \u00e0 partir de la valeur num\u00e9rique de chacun des points. Dans ce dernier cas une image \u00e9lectronique du sein est produite avant d\u2019\u00eatre sauvegard\u00e9 sur ordinateur o\u00f9 elle subira une optimisation (manipulation du degr\u00e9 de contraste dans les zones les plus denses notamment) avant d\u2019\u00eatre visualis\u00e9e. Cette image \u00e9lectronique peut \u00e9galement \u00eatre imprim\u00e9e sur film, stock\u00e9e, copi\u00e9e ou interpr\u00e9t\u00e9e \u00e0 distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La mammographie num\u00e9rique semble plus pr\u00e9cise pour les femmes de moins de 50&nbsp;ans, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire pour les femmes ayant des seins plus denses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grace \u00e0 l\u2019archivage num\u00e9rique, l\u2019examen du jour sera compar\u00e9 sur console \u00e0 vos anciens examens. Cette proc\u00e9dure comparative permet une comparaison fine des examens dans le temps et une am\u00e9lioration de la d\u00e9tection pr\u00e9coce d\u2019anomalies. Il consiste \u00e0 comprimer \u00e0 tour de r\u00f4le les deux seins puis \u00e0 les exposer \u00e0 une faible dose de rayons X. La compression est obtenue par une pelote de compression sp\u00e9cialement con\u00e7ue pour ce type d&rsquo;exploration et r\u00e9gl\u00e9e par la manipulatrice sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e pour qu&rsquo;elle soit indolore et parfaitement tol\u00e9r\u00e9e par la patiente. Cette compression, sans \u00e9crasement du sein, permet l&rsquo;\u00e9talement des tissus mammaires, ce qui facilite la visualisation des structures du sein et permet de r\u00e9duire la dose de rayons X d\u00e9livr\u00e9e. 2 \u00e0 3 clich\u00e9s par sein sont effectu\u00e9s selon les cas et parfois plus pour approfondir l\u2019examen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le compte-rendu de la mammographie doit \u00eatre conclu selon la classification BI-RADS de l\u2019ACR (American College of Radiology) avec la conduite \u00e0 tenir correspondante, et doit aussi indiquer la densit\u00e9 du sein selon les 4 niveau de densit\u00e9 d\u00e9crits \u00e9galement par l\u2019ACR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La densit\u00e9 des seins<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img
